A FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY FOR YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE MACEDON RANGES

Want to be sparked?

At the Foundation for Young Australians we believe an important lesson in life is that you can make a difference no matter who you are or where you come from. Social action is a pathway to making that difference and, for a young person, can be anything from volunteering at the local sporting grounds, starting a recycling program in the school canteen or founding a youth led social enterprise.

We work to unleash the brilliance of young people! From our home base in Melbourne we research the needs of young Australians, respond to those needs and refresh our practices to keep them relevant and engaging. It is clear to us that many young people across Australia want to make a difference to their world. Often critical questions for them are: How do I make change happen? How do I make myself heard? Where does a good idea come from? Who do I go to for help? What do I need to get started? Am I the only one thinking about this stuff?

FYA wants to encourage this curiosity and ignite a young person’s potential for making a difference. We have a series of initiatives designed to reach out and inspire Australia’s youth to become active and engaged citizens in their local communities and beyond. One initiative in particular is Change It Up.

Launching in 2012, Change It Up will energise and engage young people, aged 16 to 19 years living in regional and rural parts of Australia, who have an interest in sparking change within their local communities. In partnership with teams of committed local citizens, Change It Up will ignite and empower young people to have a voice and make a difference around issues that are important to them. Change It Up will teach young people how to make the stuff that is important to them, important to others.

Want to be the first?

Change It Up is going to be in the Macedon Ranges at the end of April. The Foundation for Young Australian’s, in partnership with the Macedon Ranges Shire Council, is looking for 20 young people to be participants in this exciting and inspiring experience. Interested in getting involved? Know someone who would be the perfect candidate for a program like this? Do you have a great idea that could positively impact your community and just don’t know ‘how to make it happen’? Check out the application form today and think about how you couldChange It Up in Macedon Ranges. We look forward to hearing from you.
